KoL You Actually Want To Work With

September 19th 2019

It’s no secret that working with China’s beloved KoLs isn’t always as glamorous as it might seem.

KoL can be difficult

Stories abound of actors, ex-boyband members or livestreamers causing headaches on set.  Whether it’s showing up late, or not at all; hiding in the trailer because it’s too hot or they saw a ghost; demanding a private bathroom, their favourite photographer, or personal dog attendant; or just refusing to dance, say lines or get dressed; wrangling KoLs can be an expensive minefield of whims and idiosyncrasies.

So why not bypass the BS, but keep the fans, prestige and influence, and recreate your celeb of choice digitally?   An illustrated or 3D rendered KoL also allows you to have them perform feats they would not, or physically could not, in reality: leaping over skyscrapers, soaring through space, or just not taking themselves that seriously.

Take a peek at our gallery of global mega celebs as imagined by some of our favourite artists.

Le Cube designed this set of legally precarious idents for MTV

BlinkMyBrain rendered Brazilian footballers Kaka and Gabriel Jesus for Adidas in his trademark collage style

Zombie created a space age Cristiano Ronaldo and Madonna for this print campaign for Forbes Brasil

Jimi Hendrix and Elvis feature among various rock legends who died before their time in Daniel Semanas' Deaths for 91 Rock Radio

BlinkMyBrain reimagined punk legends Green Day in surreal cutout graphics for the band's Bang Bang music video

Ok, so not FF directors, but once we'd thought of it, it was too good to omit.  Every week, MTV's 90s and 2000s series Celebrity Deathmatch saw stars fight to the death in lo-fi stop-motion.  Jackie Chan was among the dozens of celebs to be get rowdy in the ring.

Chan fought 90s muscelman Jean Claude Van Damme, eventually beheading the Belgian using the dismembered arms of fellow old school action hero, Chuck Norris.
